About
Timis County Youth Foundation - FITT is an umbrella organization for youth NGOs in the West part of Romania, funded in 1990. FITT, itself, is a model of democratic behaviour, being administrated by a General Assembly made of the youth NGOs in Timis County.
FITT’s general activity is guided by CoE’s values. Thus, in 2016, the Youth House in Timisoara, the headquarter of FITT became the first and the only youth centre in Romania with the Quality Label for Youth Centres. Besides the Youth House in Timisoara, FITT has turned 7 industrial buildings into youth centres in the neighbourhoods of Timisoara and another one in a city near Timisoara, called Lugoj. FITT is also hosting international volunteers and having an international ESC projects.
Also, since 2020, FITT is representing the program Europe Direct in Timisoara, facilitating the interaction between the citizens and the European Commission, by informing and educating the community regarding the activity and the principles of the European institutions and by promoting the active European citizenship.
The main target group of FITT is young people, which in Romania are defined as people aged between 14 and 35. The programmes and activities implemented by FITT range from educational programmes to social programmes for disadvantaged young people, to cultural programmes, active citizenship and policy development (local and national level).
FITT has a Department of Programmes and a project for Ukrainians living in Timis county, a separate program for the kids called KidsHub and a cultural department. Through this project called UkrinTimis country we are providing free educational trainings, sport activities; such as swimming pool, football and tennis. Through this program we are not giving educational trainings but also vocational counselling, and a physiological support.
At FITT our youth workers are responsible for initiating and facilitating the educational activities, which are focusing on HRE, EDC and skills development (trainings, workshops, courses) and the at the cultural department we have 4 artists who are implementing participatory arts methods with young people. Moreover, FITT involved local and international volunteers in developing activities with and for young people.
